In 2020, the Munich Radio Orchestra, under the direction of Chief Conductor Ivan Repušić, recorded four symphonies by Johann Baptist Vanhal, an important representative of the Viennese Classical style. This small selection from Vanhal’s oeuvre demonstrates that his work stands alongside that of Joseph Haydn, who was seven years his senior. The album has now been released by the cpo label in co-production with BR-Klassik.
