Ivan Repušić has been awarded the Grand Prix Orlando for his outstanding artistic contribution to the overall programme of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The prestigious award marks the culmination of his long-standing and profound artistic relationship with the Festival, spanning 25 years.
The award comes in the year of his farewell to the Munich Radio Orchestra, with which, during his nine-year tenure as Chief Conductor, he realized, among other things, a series of outstanding projects dedicated to Croatian music. Their long-awaited performance in Dubrovnik, before the Church of St. Blaise, was particularly moving. Opening this year’s Dubrovnik Summer Festival, it also provided a fitting and deeply emotional conclusion to their nine-year artistic collaboration.
At the award ceremony, Maestro Repušić expressed his gratitude to the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Croatian Radiotelevision, the Festival Council and the Orlando Award jury, as well as to all the artists and collaborators who have been part of his journey.
